Report card: Grading the Maple Leafs after crucial Game 6 victory over Bruins

We’re handing out Maple Leafs grades after each of the team’s games in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Here are the marks following Game 6, won 2-1 by the Leafs at Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night.

Players are marked out of 10, with 10 being the highest.

GOAL

Joseph Woll: 9.7

Couldn’t have come closer to recording his first Stanley Cup playoffs shutout.

DEFENCE

Morgan Rielly: 8.5

Assisted on both goals, had a team-high five blocks and had five hits.

Ilya Lyubushkin: 7.0

Felt some Bruins pressure and committed three of Leafs’ 15 giveaways.

Simon Benoit: 7.8

Another imposing night with nine hits and four shot blocks.

Jake McCabe: 7.3

Steady night interrupted by a couple of blips that didn’t cost the Leafs.

Joel Edmundson: 7.5

Part of the reason why the Bruins couldn’t get much going early.

Timothy Liljegren: 7.5

Primary assist on the first goal, only Leafs D-man without a block.

FORWARDS

Tyler Bertuzzi: 7.1

Quiet night in offensive zone, but was a presence with seven hits.

Max Domi: 7.1

Got away with some defensive issues and was less of a factor on faceoffs.

Mitch Marner: 7.0

Didn’t make the offensive impact that he is capable of.

Matthew Knies: 8.6

Terrific play on winning goal capped another strong outing.

John Tavares: 8.7

Won eight of 10 faceoffs he took in the defensive zone, seven hits.

William Nylander: 9.5

Two goals in a difference-making performance to send it back to Boston.

Nick Robertson: 7.1

Two shots on goal, still looking to make more of an offensive impact.

Pontus Holmberg: 7.2

Won three of his four draws, made a couple of giveaways.

Noah Gregor: 7.2

Brought energy and physicality in his first game of the series.

Connor Dewar: 7.3

Honest effort on every shift and was not a liability.

David Kampf: 7.6

Won six of seven faceoffs in defensive zone and physical when needed.

Calle Jarnkrok: 7.2

Unremarkable night for one of the Leafs’ more diligent forwards.
