Orgy of spending
The Bank of Canada’s high-interest rates are beggaring Canadians and causing more small businesses to give up and close their doors every day, but Justin Trudeau is indulging in an orgy of spending. The Liberals are spending billions and billions of borrowed money every day. We are governed by economic illiterates. Something is indeed “rotten” in the country of Canada.
Betty-Anne Tremblay
This government is blind to the impacts of its policies.
Carbon footprint
Canada cannot reduce carbon emissions outside our borders. We all know the carbon tax is not the answer. Yes, our energy could help others produce less emissions if the Liberals would so deign but in the meantime, we need to take measures for our very survival. We need to set immigration levels by assessing the carbon footprint each person coming in will bring to our country. Does that make sense?
Lori Crank
That’s not how the current government evaluates it. In fact, there is little thought given to it.
Failure to launch
Re “Trudeau announces national school food program to feed 400,000 more kids per year” (The Canadian Press, April 1): We are led to believe that Justin Trudeau’s government (which can’t plan a one-car parade, even with the help of million-dollar consultants) is going to have a countrywide school breakfast program up and running by September. Ya right.
Mike Swain
The expectations of Trudeau are so low that even if the program is in its infancy, they will claim it as a success.
Refuse entry
Is it too late for Canada to regain the free and democratic values that made us the envy of the world? As much as Justin Trudeau has piled on to the problems we are facing, the tide is turning and his run as emperor is coming to an end, and with much hard work we should be able to regain some sense of dignity on the world stage. But our real problem boils underneath the surface, as illustrated by the pro-Hamas/Iran supporters masquerading as Canadians. Time for Canada to refuse entry to anyone who puts their fanatical religious beliefs ahead of all else, and in turn condemns anyone who does not support them.
Wayne Boyce
We need to address the issues this unprecedented immigration is causing.
