Cut the taxes
I’m happy that the beer tax is being capped at 2% for the next two years. That is great news for the industry and consumers, but it’s still a tax increase. What twists my toenails is the carbon tax will increase 23% on April fools this year and another 18% next year. On top of that, our federal MPS will all get a pay increase somewhere between 3-5%. It’s obvious how little the Libs and Few Democrats think about the Henrys and Marthas in Canada.
Paul Baumberg
The timing of the tax increase just stings.
Wings clipped
Canadians should be shocked as the Canadian Air Force has ended pilot training. What is next, an Army with no guns or a Navy with no ships? I see this as an extension of the Justin Trudeau broader policy of a country with no money. Has there ever been a more destructive or disastrous prime minister in Canadian history?
Chris Robertson
The training squadron is supposed to be on hiatus until the Air Force gets a new fleet of training aircraft — but who knows how long that will take?
More hypocritical talk
So Justin Trudeau says nobody can be indifferent to the suffering in the Gaza Strip amid the Hamas-Israel war and that Canadians have a right to protest. This is hypocritical talk because he invoked the Emergencies Act on the convoy protest and froze citizens’ bank accounts for making donations to their cause, while the pro-Palestinian protests are, in his mind, peaceful protests. Some of these protesters are assaulting not only Jewish people, their homes and businesses, etc., but Trudeau even had to cancel his dinner with the Italian prime minister because protesters wouldn’t let anyone into the building. Imagine if the truckers acted like these protesters, they would have been hooked and booked in a heartbeat.
Rene Klabouch
Trudeau’s inconsistently consistent — his only constant is the pursuit of power.
Springing ahead
Is anyone in charge? Let’s make a decision for one time or the other: standard or daylight saving. If it takes a national referendum to decide, perhaps on our tax returns or during the next national election, let’s get ‘er done, please.
Percy Campbell
We’d all be alright without the time change.
